Is this real ELISA plate laboratory testing?

Yes, Smartblood use the established ELISA plate testing method to accurately detect IgG antibody reactions to food and drink ingredients. There is no doubt that using ELISA plate techniques yield reliable repeatable results. View our scientific studies page for more information.

Does Smartblood test IgG subclass 1-4 antibodies?

Yes, Smartblood tests the full IgG spectrum (IgG 1-4).

Do I need to eat certain foods in order for them to show up on the test?

Our test looks to identify antibodies produced as a direct response to any trigger foods that you’re unknowingly consuming. If said foods aren’t being eaten, the antibodies won’t be produced and our test won’t detect them.

Can the Smartblood Food Intolerance tests be taken at home?

Yes, the Smartblood Food Intolerance Test can easily be carried out, by yourself, at home. A very small amount of blood is needed, full instructions are given, and a return envelope is provided so that you may return your sample safely to our UK-based Laboratory.

Is there a minimum age for Smartblood Food Intolerance Tests?

The minimum age we recommend is 24 months due to an undeveloped immune system.

What medications can affect test results?

Both Steroids and Immunosuppresants may affect results – please let us know if you are considering taking the test whilst on these. We will never suggest you stop taking these drugs.
