Smartblood Premium Food Intolerance Test

Our Premium Food Intolerance Test provides a comprehensive IgG analysis of 260 individual food and drink reactions, presented in a colour coded format (showing  quantities measured in microgrammes per millilitre (ug/ml), with each result additionally colour coded as green amber or red to highlight clinical relevance).

This immunology assay is designed for the quantitative detection of human food-specific IgG (subclasses 1–4) antibodies in serum. The results are intended to serve as a biological baseline to inform, implement, and monitor IgG-guided elimination diets under clinical supervision.

Key Features:

• Analysis of reactions to 260 foods and drinks.

• Clear, easy-to-follow instructions.

• Free postage and returns.

• Priority results within 3 working days from receipt of sample in laboratory.

• Full refund if no reactions are detected.

Tested Food Categories:

  • Dairy Products and Egg
  • Cereals and Seeds
  • Meat
  • Fish and Seafood
  • Vegetables
  • Edible Mushrooms
  • Legumes

Technical Specifications & Methodology

Panel Coverage: The assay screens against a comprehensive panel of 260 food and
drink antigens.

Validated Sample Types: The method is fully validated for use with Serum, Whole Blood, and Dried Blood Spot cards (Whatman 903).

Analyte Detection: Simultaneous screening for IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, and IgG4 antibody
titres.

Methodology: Quanti-array technology, utilising the standardised ELISA
(Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) principle.

Quality Management System (QMS): Laboratory operations are strictly governed by
strict standards including 9 quality check processes throughout the assay process.

Additionally, the test is subject to quarterly external validation in line with the
International Association of Functional Medicine Association standards, involving
benchmark sera. The external quality assurance system (EQAS) ensures clinical and
analytical validity.

Analytical Performance & Validation

Reproducibility Rate - 98.7% based on certified reference material
Validation Frequency - Quarterly

Clinical Interpretation Note

In this context, the presence of IgG antibodies represent a delayed immune response to food antigens (foreign substances as recognised by the immune system) which are not true allergens (foreign substances causing allergy).

IgE antibodies are released immediately when food allergens are encountered by the immune system, triggering an allergic response, which will often manifest with immediate symptoms.

IgG-detected sensitivities are typically associated with non atopic (non allergic) reactions, therefore may present with delayed clinical symptoms (hours or even days).

This test is not diagnostic for IgE-mediated food allergies or anaphylaxis. Clinical
utility is optimised when findings are integrated into a broader nutritional and
medical assessment, using the antibody titres to prioritise food exclusion and
systematic reintroduction at a later date.
